Teremok Spa – Umhlanga {Review}

Teremok Marine is a five star boutique lodge & Spa situated in Umhlanga Rocks which exudes luxury and opulence as soon as you arrive. They have the most amazing rooms and judging by their reviews on Tripadvisor and considering they were voted Travellers choice 2015 – you can definitely expect the best.

The subtle peek of a refreshing pool through the shrubbery and the little fish pond just outside the door to the spa already begins to calm your mind in anticipation of your therapies ahead.

This spa is a little different than the others I have been to as instead of a minimalist, monochrome approach to the decor, there is a colourful vibrance and special ambience that envelopes you as soon as you walk in. It’s absolutely refreshing !

Their treatment menu offers a range of options from your face all the way to your toes so if a spa day is to be had, Teremok will ensure it’s done the right way… There are Juliette Armand Body Therapies and facials, Mama Mio pregnancy massages and even a non-surgical facelift! If you want to gift someone with a treatment at Teremok , then you can get one of their vouchers and watch their face light up when they see it.

We were greeted with huge smiles and were led to a beautifully designed and very relaxed waiting area where we offered a selection of beverages before our treatments began. The mandatory form was completed where you are required to provide information that may be relevant and then it was off to be pampered!

We changed quickly into the fluffy, soft grey robes and comfy slippers before heading into the different treatment rooms to destress and be massaged. My therapist , Kelly, was absolutely fantastic from the minute we entered the spa and was so easy to chat to that I was immediately at ease. I think it can be daunting sometimes and a bit uncomfortable when trusting a complete stranger but I can assure you that by the time you step in for your treatment, you will want it to start already. 🙂

I was asked to choose the amount of pressure I wanted, I went with medium – don’t we all ? obvi. And then without a single word besides her checking if I was ok periodically , I slipped into a little bubble of happiness where stresses and exhaustion were a thing of the past, No wait, those words didn’t even exist. I felt so relaxed and I could feel the knots in my shoulders and back slowly melt away and afterwards I felt like sleeping – that’s how chilled I was… anyone else feel that way?

The overall atmosphere was amazing and I felt this bohemian vibe in the air, just this sense of relaxation and a happy silence that was present. I was blown away by the impeccable customer service and the fact that we were never rushed into filling out our information in order to get our treatment done quickly. It was as if time stood still in this place, giving us a chance to catch our breath and calm our body and release our minds from the ratrace that still existed beyond the walls of Teremok.

There are many beauty spa’s but this one is unique, idyllic and incredibly blissful – which doubles as a little hideaway store to pick up some fashion gems. Kim, Tracy and Debbie have done an outstanding job creating a place that is exactly what we have been searching for when needing some downtime to recharge and relax.

All I can say is that I will definitely be back, although this time I am keen to try out the accommodation …
