Benefit Rockateur Blush

To be completely honest, I have been a bit afraid to try out a new blush simply because I am so worried that I will apply too much and look more like a clown with crazy , red cheeks (this is like, a recurring nightmare for me) . However, when Benefit cosmetics arrived in SA and was available (so easily) on RedSquare, I knew that one of the products I had to purchase was their Rockateur Boxed Blush. I had seen so many rave reviews and was ready to try it out for myself!

Product Description:

Pick up the beat with a rush of heat! This rockin’ rose gold cheek powder gives a famously provocative flush that turns heads on-stage and off. The crowd will go wild for its sexy faceted design, accented in luxe gold. For an encore, the custom angled, dimensional brush gives rich, show-stopping payoff every time.

I love the look of the packaging , it is super cute with black and pink lace together with a snakeskin print which looks girly and is exactly what I would expect from Benefit. It does come in cardboard packaging which is a bit new to me and I expect that over time, the box will start getting worn out. There is a little mirror in the box and while too small to actually be functional – if you are desperate and really need it, you could definitely use it.

It also comes with a little contouring brush to apply the cheek powder and while I do like the way it goes on, I know there are mixed reviews out there. Some users would rather use their regular blush brushes to apply it because they have the freedom to blend it the way would like. It is absolutely your preference but I think it is always useful to have this shape of brush in your makeup arsenal.

It has a faint rose fragrance to it and I quite like it 🙂

Now on to the most important thing, the colour.

The Rockateur Blush is described as ‘Rose Gold’ and it really is a gorgeous colour embossed with  the word ‘ROCK’ in a 3-D type lettering that I felt almost guilty using it because it would fade away.

I wondered how this would look on my Indian skin as the colour did seem a bit light when I swatched it. In all honesty, I think the colour payoff and look would suit fair skin more than it did mine but I can’t say that I don’t love it. It is a lovely dark pink hue that can be subtle or intense – depending on your preference.

It does take a few applications to be able to see the rose-y colour on your cheeks but it is worth the extra time you will take. The colour stays on for hours and with the mix of the matte blush in the middle and the shimmer that surrounds it, you will be glowing. The shimmer particles in Rockateur are not huge and will NOT leave your face looking like a disco ball but it is definitely complementing the trending ‘strobing’ look that we are seeing at the moment.

This blush retails for R345 (here) so by no means is it cheap, but considering that it is being imported – you can imagine that this would be the average price.

I do love this product and can’t wait to try out the other products from the Benefit brand. Keep an eye out on my blog  for more reviews – I can’t wait to share them with all of you!

Did you try out any products from the Benefit brand and what did you think?
