Dermalogica Product Review

Dermalogica has been around since 1986 and today it is a brand that is synonymous with great skin and of course, the face mapping offering which analyses your skin and recommends the products you should be using.  While their products are in the higher price range compared to your off-the-shelf products that are competitively priced, you need to remember that you really are getting a product that works.

I received these two products some time ago and have just never got around to reviewing it – I have no idea why because they are great!

Dermalogica Pre Cleanse

This product contains skin fortifying Olive, Kukui and Apricot oils which assist in removing excess sebum, makeup and other pollutants that are contributing factors to breakouts. It is the first step to good skin as it is a cleanser before your actual cleanser (who knew that even existed?). The scent is pleasant – a fresh, citrus smell which isn’t very strong but gently reminds you that you are on the road to clean skin.

You apply to this to dry skin initially and then add some water to form a milky emulsion which is light on your skin. Once you wash it off, you follow up with your normal cleanser in order for it to work optimally.

I tried it on my stubborn eye-makeup (i.e. eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara) after a long day and it dissolved it in a matter of minutes. I was surprised (in a good way) because other cleansers I have used have not been able to that and this was just a pre cleanse!

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

This exfoliating powder is quite different compare to regular exfoliators on the market. When I opened the product and popped off the lid , I was surprised to see that it wasn’t the usual little beads we are so accustomed to seeing. Instead, it is a rice – based powder formula that is designed to activate when in contact with water and leave skin smoother and brighter.

I absolutely loved this exfoliator and will definitely continue to use it. It wasn’t harsh on my skin as I expected it to be and nor did it dry my skin out. It left my skin feeling clean, smooth and even though I have sensitive skin – it was very gentle for an exfoliator.

All you need is half a teaspoon of this powder with a little water – which turns it into a paste and voila! – great skin is not very far away.

I love both these products and with ranges that suit every skin type, I am sure you will be able to find what’s right for you. Check their website here if you want to learn more about this great company.
