Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask – The Body Shop

IMG_0482

This mask from The Body Shop was given to me by my sister who has very dry skin and unfortunately , this product dried out her skin even more. I kinda scored because I got it for free (thanks Sis!) and it is exactly what my face needed. I have very oily skin no matter what season I am in , even in Winter – the oiliness is still there and is very annoying to say the least.

I was keen to try the Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask from TBS and see what the results looked like. I had absolutely no idea that Seaweed is actually a great moisturiser for oily skin because it has no oils.

I applied this to my face (avoiding the lip and eye area) after cleansing by adding a little water to the product. I felt it went on quite easily although it can be a bit thick, you just need to remember that this is a clay mask so just spread it evenly and then sit back and relax. Give it about ten minutes which is enough time for it to dry out completely and penetrate your skin. I found that after applying I could actually see the pores on my nose – I do suffer with blackheads and to find something that helps with it is amazing! After the allotted time, I felt my skin tighten up and proceeded to wash it off. All I did was use my facial sponge soaked in some warm water and then I began to remove it. Just apply some pressure and it comes off, you could even jump straight into the shower with it but I prefer having a look in the mirror and making sure my face is clear.

I have got to say that this mask really does a great job and I could feel the difference even after the first use. I wouldn’t say ANY product works overnight especially in seeing a visible difference but I definitely felt my skin feel drier (that is a good especially when it usually feels like an oil slick) and incredibly smooth. I couldn’t stop touching my face after using it!

I would definitely recommend this to those who have oily skin and are at their wits end on what to do to control it. For those who have dry skin – definitely stay away from it , it will make your skin incredibly dry and who wants that? If you have sensitive skin and are a bit concerned trying out a new product, do a spot test first and see how your skin reacts – this will give you peace of mind especially if you have had bad reactions to facial products in the past.

Use this once or twice a week and follow it up with a really good moisturiser (preferably an oil-free one) and sunscreen if you are going out. I love this product and I am sure you will too!
