A number of years ago I worked in an environment that was filled with dust and the nature of the job meant that I would need to wash my hands regularly. You could say it has become a habit of mine to constantly wash my hands before I touch anything and while I have changed jobs (so it is not as necessary as it used to be) – this is something I still do.

The downside of this though is that my hands get very dry and when Winter rolls around, my skin is crying out for attention. I was on the lookout for a new hand cream to stick with me during the colder months and after seeing the popularity of L’Occitane , I decided to try one of their hand creams – Pivoine Flora hand cream (30ml).

This is what they have to say about the Pivoine Flora collection:

Formulated with peony extract from Drôme in the south of France, the Pivoine Flora collection offers a floral and generous perfume and eau de toilette with a distinctive lingering freshness – an almost rustic scent like freshly cut grass.

What I thought about it:

I like the packaging, it is quite sturdy and with a screw on cap means it will remain secure while it bumps around in your handbag. It’s pretty enough with a picture of a peony on the front which tells you instantly what this hand cream is supposed to smell like.

I am a lover of floral scents and this one smells flowery and gorgeous which definitely gets a thumbs up from me at the outset. The scent reminds me more of a perfume than of a hand cream and I think you would expect to find something like this in a designer fragrance box set rather than on its own.

This product goes on more like a lotion , it isn’t as thick as I expected it to be but while it may not be as incredibly moisturising as some other hand creams – it certainly does have its own distinctive and alluring characteristics. It is easily absorbed by the skin and even though I washed my hands , the smell still lingered and while not as strong as when I did the initial application, it was definitely there. The grape seed oil and shea butter in this product contributes to its moisturising properties.

While this product is a little pricey compared to some others, I am a sucker for floral scents and this one is perfect for me. Check out L’Occitane here.
