Designer fragrances have an appeal that is very difficult to replicate in other areas of fashion and retail. The unique characteristic is that before you get the opportunity to smell the infusion of various notes which have taken a very long time to create, you initially need to be attracted by the aesthetics of the product.
I am always fascinated by the various designs , packaging and scents which a range of different fragrances have and how an individual’s choice of fragrance is influenced by a host of factors.
In this review, I am looking at the Lacoste l.12.12 Blanc – Pure for Men.
My husband doesn’t own any Lacoste merchandise but this fragrance is definitely a must-have. My mom bought this one for him as a birthday gift because my husband had heard about it from a friend and after smelling it himself from a sample he received, he quite liked it.
The packaging is not crazy fancy and hey, I like my bling just as much as the next gal but this is for a guy so I understand why there are no charms and hearts all over the place. You can also see why this fragrance was inspired by the classic Lacoste Polo shirt. The glass bottle is housed in a white, textured box with the famous alligator in the corner.
The bottle itself has a rough textured side while the rest of it is a simple, clean white design with the signature cloth alligator logo attached to the top right hand corner. The design of this fragrance (as simple as it may seem) is actually well thought out. It continues to remind you of the classic white Lacoste Polo Shirt and once you get a whiff of it you can understand what inspired these clean cut lines.
It is a very cool, fresh and crisp scent that I absolutely love. I feel that this fragrance is perfect for guys who are in their 20’s and early 30’s, a bit of a younger scent. The great thing about it is that it’s not overpowering but still masculine and I have to say that it is definitely one of my faves. It is not incredibly woody or too floral either and has the perfect balance. If you enjoy fragrances like Versace Man Eau Fraiche and Hugo Boss then you won’t make a mistake with this one.
It lasts quite a few hours and at first this scent makes me think of clear blue skies in the Mediterranean , whiling the time away in my large sunglasses aboard a private luxury yacht with this handsome man by my side drinking in the gorgeous scenery without a care in the world. Vivid, I know but I really do imagine this when the husbo wears it. 🙂
In my opinion it is both a sexy and alluring fragrance for men and if you buy a large sized bottle you get a white Lacoste tog bag for free from Truworths. Score!
