I must admit that I have been anti ‘mixes’ since forever and have always believed in baking from scratch! However, when I found the Nomu Pancake and Waffle kit, I was pleasantly surprised.
Let me just start by saying that this is so easy to make , you will WANT your kids to help you in the kitchen on a Sunday morning. You get two sachets of the dry mix and all you need to do is add in an egg, oil and some milk and you’re good to go. So, the first time I made this – I completely and utterly forgot to put in the egg 😐 Although the consistency wasn’t desirable, the taste was not compromised. If you do want to omit the egg, I think you definitely could.
Make sure you get a really good non-stick frying pan to make your Pancakes/Hotcakes because the last thing you need is it getting stuck , and there you are completely mashing it to bits trying to get it out. We have all been there.
One sachet makes 8 Pancakes, 6 Waffles or 10 Hotcakes.
Unfortunately I don’t have a waffle maker but I have made both hotcakes and pancakes, and every single time it was deeeee-vine! I don’t know if it’s me but my first one on the pan always looks terrible and then I start getting the hang of it while eating them hot off the pan, of course.
You can add ice cream on them (I recommend Tin Roof) , syrup, berries or just cinnamon sugar and it is absolutely delicious. Make sure you serve them hot with a Cappuccino or Milo (I use my Nescafe Dolce Gusto) and breakfast is sorted.
I bought mine from Yuppiechef but you can get them from Nomu or even at selected Deli’s. You can also check out Nomu’s website for some amazing recipies using this and other products from their range to get some really superb meals.
If you have tried it, let me know what you think ❤
