Featured – ‘Shweet Cakes’

Buddy from Cake Boss, Duff Goldman from Ace of Cakes and our very own Charly’s bakery have taken our expectations of how cakes should look to another level. We watch them on TV perfecting their craft and gawk at the finished product – the passion they have is embodied in their work and one can’t help but wish we could do the same.

What is even more amazing (and inspiring) is when someone is entirely self-taught and has taken what was just a hobby and made it into a business. This week I am featuring Cakes from Saffiyah Essopp of Shweet Cakes. She doesn’t come from a baking background and nor does she have any formal training but her work is flawless and her clients expectations are not only met, but exceeded. She is a perfect example of an individual who has harnessed a skill and has become an entrepreneur in her own right. Situated in Durban, her orders are streaming in and I believe this lady is definitely going to make it big! Her prices are absolutely reasonable and her cakes are utterly beautiful.

If you follow me on Instagram (@passagetobeauty) , you will see that I regularly post pictures of her creations and most of the time I am drooling on my screen when I do. If you would like to get in touch with her, please follow her on Instagram @saffiyahmahomed, alternatively pop me an email on passagetobeauty@yahoo.com and I will be happy to provide you with contact details.
