In the 2 years I have been married, we have rented at 2 properties and unfortunately both times I had to look at a gazillion ads to get an idea of what the average rental was for the area before signing the lease. I would spend hours scouring the web , checking ads and I just felt like it was becoming incredibly time-consuming! (I had better things to do, like , shop – duh)
For all of you that are taking that huge step towards your own independence, whether you are a uni graduate, a pair of newlyweds or have just recently retired – Gumtree has a cool app that will make relocating a breeze. From a studio apartment in Durban to a sea-facing house in Cape Town , you can get the average price to rent or purchase in any suburb in South Africa with a few clicks of your mouse. All you do is use the drop down menu and select the province and city you’re interested in and voila! all the info is right at your fingertips. What could be easier?
I tested it out for the Berea & Musgrave area in KZN and the average price of a rental was spot-on. This app also tells you what the average purchase price would be and even allows you to navigate to the ads that are in the area you are interested in. It is such a useful app and exactly what we expect from market leaders like Gumtree who have taken selling your goods to another level entirely.
I, personally have used Gumtree to sell a variety of items before I relocated from my rented properties and it worked out great. I got my price and was able to complete the sale without any hassle. Gumtree is always my go-to site.
Check out their link to their property price checker here. The app is also available on Google Play, App store and on Blackberry.world.
