I love trying new bath and body products and when the Lush store in Gateway opened earlier this year , boy – was I excited! (You can check out what went down here)
My first purchase was the Sweetie Pie jelly. I loved seeing it wobble like real jelly and curiosity, more than anything, got the better of me. The price was incredibly reasonable at just R55 for 100g.
I love that they: conduct their business ethically; they invent their own products ; use only fresh and organic fruits and vegetables; use little or no preservatives; tell you when the product was made and, amongst other things – do not buy from companies who commission animal and human testing. Kudos to you Lush!
This is what the inventors have to say about the Sweetie Pie:
Sweet and sophisticated fruitiness. Lashings of blackcurrant and bergamot essential oils in a sour cherry and coconut jelly make this about as fruity as you can get. It is incredibly difficult to resist taking a spoonful. Instead, take a handful and smooth it over your hair and body. Passing strangers will smell you and find their minds wandering to fruit pastilles.
So when I got home , I opened the tub to see what it looked like and whoa! I got this fruity, blackcurrant smell which I can only describe as ‘delicious’ or ‘delicioso’ as my 6 year-old niece would say. As I usually do – I asked for my husband’s opinion – not surprisingly he said that it smelled tasty enough to eat 🙂 (p.s my advice would be NOT to eat it 🙂 ) I love that it really looks and feels like jelly ! I found that it lathers up nicely for you to shower with and the fruity smell fills the bathroom. Unfortunately the scent doesn’t stay very long on your skin. The jelly can be a bit tricky to use and if you don’t use it correctly – you might find yourself running after your Sweetie Pie in the bath , eek! My advice would be to tear it into chunks and then pop it onto your pouf before creating a lather.
Whatever you do, don’t ever, ever , ever , ever drop it. If you’ve used it before , you’ll know what I’m talking about. It is a runner, really difficult to catch and will slip out of your hands, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
It’s just the cutest thing! Safe to say – I will be going back to Lush once this one is all used up 🙂
