So the day of the long-awaited Durban Blogger Meet arrived and boy was I excited! I had been looking forward to this event for quite some time and I knew that there were going to be some great surprises , but even I couldn’t predict how this fantastic day was going to end.
Twitter was abuzz with the hastag ‘dbnbloggermeet‘ so, how apt to have it at the ‘Hastag’ restaurant on Windermere road in Durban. Unfortunately, this place isn’t certified halaal so I couldn’t eat anything off the menu 😦 , however, I still enjoyed myself to the maxx ! The weather was awesome and so were the people.
25 awesome ladies were invited to this fabulous event which was graciously coordinated by the lovelies: Nicola Meyer, Verushka Ramasami and the darling Michelle Roberts . They got some amazing sponsors on board and truth is, we couldn’t even carry these really packed goody bags. I really didn’t expect the number of items we received to review. How fabulous !
I met some really awesome ladies who , before this event, were only twitter handles, facebook pages and blog sites. We mingled and hung out and won prizes, we even learned some valuable things too.
Karen showed us the range from Shen Mantra called Philosophia Botanica – which are natural, therapeutic products free from parabens, artifical colours, mineral oil, silicone or animal raw materials. I had the pleasure of putting these products on my skin at the meet and I can tell you, the smell alone is calming.
We were introduced to Fry’s family and why we should try to go meat – free (even if it’s just on Monday’s), the wonderful charity called ‘Kitten Action’ which rescues kittens and we also heard about the fantastic tablet from the awesome people at Lenovo. We were then given the opportunity to tweet Lenovo and describe what we were willing to do in order to win the Lenovo Yoga Tablet. If you’re curious, check out the hastag #loveyourlenovo – look, I even said I would kiss a frog – we were all so desperate to win this amazing gadget!
When announcing the winners, we were all on the edge of our seats, bated breath, eagerly waiting and then there was THE announcement… The generous Lenovians (I think I will call them that from now on 🙂 ) decided that they would be giving away, not one — but TWO tablets away. You can imagine the *Gasps from every blogger, even me. Well, my battery had died quite some time before the announcement so I kinda gave up on the thought that I could win … but lo and behold, when the second winner was announced, it was ME.
Me. Me. Me.
I was overjoyed as I don’t own a tablet and never thought I would be able to. I am still smiling because this tab is ahhhh—maaaayyyy—zeeeenggg 🙂 I had changed my twitter bio and pics to be all about Lenovo , which is what won me this great tablet. I am currently having withdrawal symptoms being away from it for so long…
We all received fabulous prizes from some incredible sponsors in addition to the biggest bag I have ever seen in mah life – it was huge! I am still going through each item and cannot even wait to tell you all about it.
This event was spectacular and I look forward to meeting all these gorgeous ladies again, so we can chill out – relax and catch up. Here’s to making new friends, doing what you love and of course, eating cupcakes 🙂

All in all, a great way to spend my weekend 🙂
